Jonny Warner
Head of Sixth Form

In 1925 the two remarkable and powerful women who founded our school had a vision of the education they wanted. Nowhere is their creed of independence of thought, equality of status and absolute belief that tolerance and acceptance of others are the hallmarks of a civilised society more apparent than in our sixth form.

For here we have no head boy or girl. We have no prefects. So within our pretty well unique system all of you who join - not just the selected few - have an opportunity to become an elder of our community, a community that increasingly extends beyond our own grounds to voluntary work locally or much further afield. And in so doing you will acquire the premium skills of working with and for others of all ages, abilities and social circumstances and learn to accept the challenges of leadership.

Your academic studies will always remain your central purpose but we want you to take full advantage of a school that operates 24/7 and ensure that these two final school years are a time of liberation. But a time too when you will have all the pastoral care and support you want from the dedicated sixth form team who will subtly monitor what you do. It also has to be said that in the increased competition for university places good grades are not enough. You will need to prove commitment in a manner that goes beyond A2 by creating and inspiring others - performing your own plays, organising your own societies, setting up expeditions, writing for magazines, fundraising for a cause to which you are committed. The list is as long as your imagination. Just suppose you should err you will find we move in fast to see that any fall from grace is only temporary.

A wild, disparate & very clever family."
