The school day begins at 8.25am for Year 7 and above. There are several assemblies each week. On Wednesdays there is a specially extended occasion, known as “Morning Talk”, when a member of staff, a visiting speaker or a group of pupils talk to the school on a topic of special interest, or one of our many performing arts groups may perform. A long lunch break allows time for various extra-curricular activities, after which lessons continue until 4.10pm. More extra-curricular activities and sporting fixtures against other schools take place after school. There is a prep. period in the late afternoon, followed by supper at 6.30pm. A second prep period for Year 8 and above is followed by free time in the boarding houses before bedtime.

For Years 4 - 6 the day also begins at 8.25am but finishes at 3.30pm. There are activities both at lunch time and after school for which many stay on.

The First School have their own timetable. The day starts at 8.50am (although, to fit in with dropping off older pupils, the doors open at 8.15am) and finishes at 3.20pm. Some then stay on to take part in activities and then go home. Some take part in the after-school programme which runs until 5.30pm.
