Psychology is the systematic study of the human mind and behaviour. We seek to answer contentious questions regarding human nature and nurture, and to understand seemingly unexplainable human actions. Simply put, psychology bridges the gap between the arts and sciences. Therefore, it is a particularly versatile and useful subject alongside a wide range of others.

In our As & A-level courses we aims to stimulate the curiosity of learners, developing their research and analytical skills to help understand and investigate human behaviour. Some of the key issues tackled during the course are outlined below:

  • Should we blame the media for the increases in violence in society?
  • Why do we dream?
  • What is the effect of children being separated from their parents or orphaned at a young age?
  • How is stress linked to illness and how effective are stress management techniques?

Psychology is a highly stimulating and potentially enlightening subject that gives students much to think about and discuss both in and outside the classroom.
