The school’s Physical Education programme is exciting and varied. PE is compulsory up to Year 11, Games up to Year 12. Year 13 pupils are expected to participate in some form of physical exercise each week. PE is also offered as an optional subject at GCSE, AS and A-level. The PE syllabus includes, where appropriate, components of the National Curriculum: games (cricket, tennis, rounders, football and hockey), swimming, athletics, gymnastics, badminton, trampolining, volleyball, working in the fitness suite, as well as our unique outdoor education programme. The emphasis is on physical activity, health awareness and sport for all - regardless of ability - and we endeavour to fit the activity to the pupil.

Regular sporting fitures are arranged with other schools, and we take part in local and national league competitions.   Some pupils are selected for county and national teams.   Thee is also a full and varied programme of extra-curricular sports and activities.

The aim is to instill laughter and fun into the atmosphere so the emphasis is on having a go, building and developing skills through games play as well as structured practices and (highly) competitive matches for those who enjoy them.   We want everyone to take an active part, to be leaders within lessons, to organise warm-ups or skill practices, or to learn to umpire or coach if they are not instinctive participants.

By combining sport and outdoor education in one overall programme pupils at Frensham learn to solve problems, think tactically, work in teams, become physically fit and mentally tough."
